Vertical Eight Price Change Information

There are two operations to changing the price on Monarch Vertical
Mechanisms.
1) Setting the pockets, that is the opening into which the coins
or tokens are inserted. The bars which are slid forward to open
the pocket or back to close it are called the "carriers"
2) Adjusting the top measuring fingers. These are the eight
metal fingers visible at the top and to the rear of the housing.
Once the chute is removed from the machine, Please follow the
steps listed below. All directions, that is left, top, bottom
rear, are based on the chutes as normally seen from the customer's
viewpoint when the chute is installed.
So that you will not be fighting the
return tension and for easier handling, first unhook the return
spring from the holder at the rear, and lay the holder aside.
The first step is release any fingers on the retaining bar.
Hook the tool on the bar from the rear and push back to pivot
the front edge of the bar upward, allowing the fingers to fall
down.
Insert an adjusting tool into both sides (using the larger hole
with a small "tooth" on its perimeter) and slide the tools under
all eight fingers. Turn the tool and lift the fingers so that
ALL of the fingers will rest on the retaining bar. NOTE! Do
not skip Step One to do this, as it will result in bent measuring
fingers. Once this is completed the chute should free-play.

Turn the coin chute over. With the slide pushed in part of the
way, you should see the area as shown. The gauging bar has been
removed for clarity, but this is not necessary. If you find
the area too tight to work in, you may remove the bar also,
by gently prying one end from its slot and laying it aside.
Take careful note of which way the bar is in first so you may
reinstall it properly later.

Insert the point of the tool between the edge of the hole and
the spring clip on the side against the carrier to be moved.
Once the hook at the end of the spring clip disengages from
a slot in the carrier (this is unseen) the carrier may be moved
forward or backward as required. Once in the desired position,
release the spring clip and then wiggle the carrier to make
certain it has been locked in place again. NOTE: Never push
the carrier all the way to the rear to close it. A small gap
should always remain at the rear of the slot to allow the Anti-Cheat
fingers to enter unobstructed. Repeat as necessary until the
combination of slots is set as desired. If you removed the gauging
bar, reinstall it, making sure that it is properly oriented.
THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR PROPER OPERATION.

Turn the chute right side up and pull the slide back out. Confirm
the proper slots are open or closed as desired.
Once again, release ALL the measuring fingers that are resting
on the retaining bar, until they rest on the lower lock bar.
Slide an adjustment tool in from each side as before, but picking
up ONLY those fingers which align with slots that are CLOSED.
All fingers aligned with open slots are to be left resting on
the lock bar.
Replace the return spring bracket and reconnect the spring.
Check the chute for proper function with the appropriate coins
or tokens. Reinstall in the equipment.
